IRON SYRUP
IRON SYRUP
Healthy blood is literally life! And to have healthy blood, we need to be consuming enough iron through the foods we eat.
The homemade herbal iron syrup is a wonderful plant-based way to boost iron intake for people who are vegan/vegetarian.
This herbal iron tonic is great for increasing iron levels and improves the health of the organs that transport blood, absorb iron, and remove waste.
Due to the nature of the herbs and ingredients chosen herbal iron syrups like this one don’t appear to feed the “bad” bacteria in the gut the way iron supplements have been shown to do. Also, herbal iron syrups don’t cause constipation which is the #1 challenge I’ve found most people struggle with while taking synthetic iron supplements.

Nettle is a mineral powerhouse rich in nourishing us not just with iron but also with a generous amount of potassium, magnesium, calcium, vitamin K, vitamin C, and more! It is bitter and known as a blood and liver tonic, and great for the digestive system – especially relieving constipation and loss of appetite
Astragalus is an adaptogen helping with fatigue and stimulates blood building and kidney circulation.
Dandelion Root, is a well-known liver tonic, specific to improving the health of the liver’s ability to cleanse blood. This herbal ally is also very nutritive for the body and supports healthy digestion in a variety of ways (so that we can absorb and assimilate iron)
Yellow Dock, easily absorbed plant-based sources of iron.
Rose Hip, are very high in vitamin C and mucilages. They add a higher healing vibration to your syrup and make it easier for your body to absorb the nutrients from all of the herbs.
Hawthorn Berries In addition to being well known by herbalists as a timeless resource for supporting the heart, hawthorn berries are also a wonderful natural source of vitamin C! Vitamin C helps to exponentially enhance iron absorption from plants.
Blackstrap molasses. is dark and iron-rich in its own right. We add it here predominately for the strong flavor that blends well with the bitter herbs from the recipe.
